Orkney: with the exception of Hoy the islands are low-lying. Open to the Atlantic, they are windswept and trees are rare. Some of the farmland is fertile and the quality of the cattle produced is famous. The nature of the islands accounts for the high percentage of sea- and sky-scapes here
